BIOGRAPHY
I was born on October 18, 1978, in St. Petersburg. My mother was working in a factory at the time, my father was a schoolteacher, as he still is. In spite of this, my sister Olga Yankovskaya and I found our way into the creative field. In 1995 I entered the Technological Institute, majoring in refractory engineering, after only two weeks of studies I realized I had made a mistake and dropped out. In 1996 I entered St. Petersburg State University, majoring in Psychology. I realized that I had made a mistake three years later. During that time I seriously went in for sports - middle-distance running, I had time to achieve the rank of candidate master of sports. But I realized that I had made a mistake in choosing a career as a professional athlete. In 1999, I enrolled at the Academy of Dramatic Art (St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy), and I realized that I hadn't made a mistake! At the first exam, of all the sketches selected by the master, half of them were mine, or with my participation.
In 2004 I graduated from St. Petersburg Academy of Theatre Arts (SPbGATI), course of professor G.A. Barysheva. In the same year I got awarded as laureate of the country-wide variety contest in the category "Tap Dance".
Worked in the workshop of the Honoured Art worker J.V.Tomoshevsky (the founder and artistic director (1989-2000) of the theater "Shelter Comediant".
CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT
In 2005 I worked in a studio of Honoured Art Worker J.V. Tomoshevsky (founder and artistic director of Theatre "Shelter of Comedian" from 1989 to 2000).
In 2007 I organized my own theater studio D.G.E.M. The same year, director A. Dezhonov staged a performance "Leap to Freedom. The Story of Rudolf Nureyev.
I performed the role of Rudolf Nureyev, for which I received the "Best Role" award at the "Amur Autumn" theater festival.
From 2011 to 2013 I worked as an art director at the company "Bukvoed", where I received the "Project of the Year" award for the creation of the Showcase Theater.
The founder and director of the company - Denis Kotov - offered to apply my directing and organizational skills in a business. I realized that this was also not my path and declined the offer.
The invaluable experience I have gained and my managerial skills have come in handy for the creation of my own organization - "Sergey Yankovsky Theatre" in 2012, where I am striving to implement all my ideas. The company is rapidly developing, and to this day it is already a professional team that enters new markets in Russian and Western theaters, making new partners and strengthening friendships with all those who saw my path from the beginning.
